How we match opacity to the room
- Cellular honeycomb — pleated cells trap air right at the glass, the best insulator of any shade
- Cells from 3/8″ to 3/4″, in single-cell, double-cell and cell-in-a-cell constructions
- Roller and solar fabrics cut glare and UV while keeping the view — good for sunset-facing glass
- Verti-Sheer vertical vanes for patio doors and wide sliders, so you can still walk through

Most homes end up mixing families — blackout in the bedrooms, light-filtering in the living room. We spec it room by room at the consultation.
What cord-free and motorized actually means
- Every Softlight shade is cord-free as standard — no dangling pull cords anywhere in the house
- Any of the four shade families can be motorized, including skylights and angled glass
- Control by remote, wall switch, app or voice
- Matter-compatible, so they join Apple Home, Alexa and Google Home
- Battery, solar or hardwired power, with schedules and scenes
Motorization is a shades and blinds option. Plantation shutters tilt by hand — we don't offer motorized shutter tilt.

What Shapes the Investment.
Blinds and shades are quoted per window and built to your measurements, so there's no shelf price to point at. These are the variables that actually move the number.
How many windows
The count drives the total more than any single upgrade. Doing a whole floor at once is usually better value per window than coming back room by room.
Window size
A wide slider or a two-storey window needs more material and a heavier headrail than a standard bedroom window. Width matters more than height.
Fabric & opacity
Light-filtering, room-darkening, and true blackout sit at different levels, and so do the fabrics — a simple weave and a designer textile aren't the same line item.
Cordless vs. motorized
Every shade we sell is cord-free and child-safe as standard. Motorization is an upgrade, and it's worth it most on skylights, stairwell windows, and anything you can't comfortably reach.
Cellular construction
Single-cell and double-cell shades insulate differently. Double-cell costs more up front and does more work on a January window facing the water.
Mount & extras
Inside vs. outside mount, valances, and specialty shapes all factor in. We settle those at the consultation so the quote you get is the price you pay.
